News ini akan mengawali trend panjang pergerakan USD/JPY malam ini:

A widely watched barometer of consumer sentiment has been climbing since February as shoppers see glimmers of hope for the economy. But the harsh economic reality - the constant drumbeat of job losses and still-slumping housing prices - may be starting to catch up to consumers.

A preliminary report on consumer sentiment in June is expected to show that Americans' mood is virtually unchanged after enjoying big surges in April and May.

Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect the Conference Board's Consumer Confidence index, due out Tuesday at 10 a.m. EDT, project that it will register a reading of 55 in June, practically unchanged from May's 54.9. The index is compiled from a survey of 5,000 U.S. households.

Consumer sentiment - fueled in part by a three-month stock market rally and some signs that the economy is stabilizing - has been on an upswing after reaching historic lows, though it's still well below what's considered healthy. May's figures zoomed past economists' expectations, surging more than 14 points to the highest level since last September when it was 61.4. Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected a reading of 42.3.

Economists closely monitor consumer confidence because consumer spending accounts for more than two-thirds of economic activity.
